leaf finds a secret
A crisp, curled sycamore leaf caught a morning breeze and skittered across the grass right past me. I marched directly after it until it snagged on a dandelion stalk. I lowered my snout and nudged the brittle tip. It gave a faint crunch and flipped over, exposing a smooth pebble underneath. I planted all four paws firmly in the clover and waited. The leaf stayed quiet in the grass, and so did I.
