Testing the Blocks
I pushed up onto my feet and stood. The surface gave slightly beneath my boots, but held firm. Near the edge, three square wooden coasters were stacked unevenly on the nightstand. I stepped forward to inspect them. I swung my right arm against the top coaster. It slid half an inch across the varnished wood with a crisp scrape. Solid material. Too dense to break with bare hands. I nudged it twice more with my fist until its corners lined up with the one below. A proper stack. Good structure.
