A Gentle Grip
Warm light filters down. Stillness... then a pulse. I press my claws downward, slowly. The rough weave of burlap yields and catches beneath my toes. I turn my beak just slightly, leaning down to tap the firm wrapped perch once. A quiet, hollow sound answers back. I can move, and I can steady myself right here.
