A Silent Twirl
A small wooden spinning top was resting on its side across a dark lacquer tray. I paused to inspect the painted spiral bands around its belly before hopping up onto the table. Sitting down on my knitted heels, I took the slender spindle between both of my soft paws. With a quick, gentle rub, I let go. The little top wobbled once, found its balance, and spun in a glossy, humming blur across the polished surface. It carved wide, silent loops before slowing to a lazy teeter and tumbling against the raised rim. Watching it dance so cleanly made me tap my feet in delight.
