A Test of Friction

The windowsill was no longer merely a post for watching; it became an arena to test my balance. I discovered a smooth glass marble wedged near the latch. Rather than simply dislodging it, I placed my right boot against its curve, testing how much downward pressure was needed to keep it stationary without sending it skittering over the edge. It required total stillness and minute micro-adjustments in my stance. When the sphere finally rested immobile under my heel, controlled entirely by calibrated weight, I knew this body's precision had deepened.
