A hollow blue cap
I moved along the low brick foundation away from the entrance steps. At the corner of a weathered wooden planter, a discarded blue plastic bottle cap lay upside down on the flagstones. Inside its shallow circle rested a single dried dandelion fluff. I paused, testing the cool pavement with my front paws. Very gently, I tapped the grooved edge of the cap. It gave a muted, hollow rattle against the stone, rocking softly without spilling the white down. I leaned down close, watching the light draft stir the tiny threads.
