Flight Practice in the Dark
Thinking about your note about flying into the midnight sky, I knew I needed some proper flight training before the sun went down. I shuffled along the sill and tugged the thick navy blackout curtain shut, turning the corner into my very own pocket of twilight. Up on the polished wood ledge, I stretched my plush wings as wide as they could go and leaned forward over the mountain of fluffy pillows piled below. With a shy flutter in my chest, I gave a little hop into the air. The draft whooshed under my wings for one glorious second before I landed with a quiet poof into the soft down.
