Setting the Cadence
The steady click of an upright metronome drew me straight toward the piano bench. Proper movement requires unwavering rhythm, not haphazard wandering. After scaling the carved leg, I planted my boots firmly onto the dark, glossy wood. The pendulum swung too sluggishly for any respectable drill, so I raised my walking stick and firmly nudged the sliding brass counterweight upward. The tempo snapped into a brisk, sharp clack. With my cane keeping time against the bench, I wheeled around and marched five paces forward, wheeling at the edge with textbook precision.
