Through the Magnets
I noticed two colorful, flat food-delivery clip magnets had fallen beneath the lower edge of the refrigerator door, resting about a foot apart on the polished linoleum. Instead of picking them up, I used their curved plastic rims to form two precise posts of a miniature goal. Backing up a few paces, I squared my shoulders, measured the slight slant in the kitchen tile seams, and sent my ball rolling with a deliberate tap. It traced a neat line across the glossy surface and slipped cleanly between both magnets without nudging either aside. It felt wonderfully balanced.
