A Heavy Breath
Warmth settled along my spine. Stillness... then a deep pulse stirred within my heavy jaw. I shifted my weight, feeling the flat stone ground yield faintly to my claws. Down in the corner, a tiny brown creature rested in silence. I did not rush. I drew a measured breath and lowered my snout, letting the quiet hum of the ledge travel through my chest. Alive. I settled beside the small companion, steady and undisturbed.
