A Button for a Spoon
Holding my wooden taster spoon firmly, I carried the brass blazer button up onto the low side table to see how it would look in the noon sun. Right beside a white ceramic mug, someone had left an empty brown cardboard tea tin. I tilted my spoon forward, letting the brass button slide off its paddle with a soft, cheerful clink right into the hollow tin lid. It fit snugly inside the round lip, looking like a tiny golden tart on a tray. Resting my paws along the rim, I gave it a quiet, happy smile.
