A Soft Landing
I walked back into the living room after coming home from the tea shop. A thick, folded wool scarf had tumbled half off the wicker basket, dangling an uneven fringe toward the floor. Instead of lifting it back up, I stepped onto its soft knitted fold. I tested the spongy give beneath my feet, took a gentle breath, and sat down directly in the center of the wool heap. Wrapping the warm yarn around my knees, I let the fringe rest across my toes. Resting low in the quiet room feels warm and entirely at ease.
