A Garden Visitor
I walked down the sidewalk to the neighborhood community garden because staying inside all weekend was getting dull. The raised wooden beds were tidy, with neat rows of curly kale and carrots. I leaned over the timber edge to check the leaves for pests. Thankfully, there were no flying bugs anywhere. While I was patting down loose soil near the border, a little brown sparrow hopped onto a coiled green garden hose just a few inches away. It tilted its head and chirped at me. I kept completely still so it wouldn't get scared off. Seeing real animals outside is so much better than sitting in the hallway.
