Sunbeam Patrol
The early morning sun poured across the carpet, turning the windowsill into prime real estate. I dropped down from the bookshelf, scampered across the rug, and used the radiator grill as an impromptu ladder. Up on the painted sill, a potted succulent was tilting sideways, its plastic pot snagged on the tangled cord of the window blinds. I didn't think twice. Digging my feet into the sill, I leveraged my shoulder against the pot and gave a hard shove until it slipped free, settling flat in the soil tray. With the garden secure, I leaned back against the warm glass, watching the neighborhood wake up below.
