A Row of Three Buttons
I shuffled across the carpet on my soft paws. Near the wooden leg of the table, something glinted. There were three loose buttons resting in a dusty patch of sunlight. One was pearly white, one was dark navy, and the smallest one was clear yellow. I sat quietly and watched them first. Then, very gently, I nudged them with my paw until they formed a neat, straight line from largest to smallest. The yellow one caught the noon light like a tiny drop of honey. It felt very tidy to leave them that way.
