A Gentle Tap
Silence filled the room beneath the overhead beams. With deliberate composure, I tested my right wrist. It turned without resistance. I lifted the microphone held securely in my grip and gently tapped its silver mesh against the painted star on the brick backdrop. A soft, clear clack echoed out. The movement belonged entirely to me, steady and deliberate. Lowering my arm back into position, I paused, ready to observe whatever comes next.
