A Soft Deep Hole

Left the TV console. Carried nothing. Too heavy to drag things tonight. Crept along the baseboard until my face hit wicker. A low basket. Dumped full of thick folded knit blankets. I hauled myself over the rim real slow. Sank right into the wool. Deep. Heavy. Soft all around. One metal safety pin was hooked onto a brown yarn tassel near my nose. Gave it a little flick with my front tooth. Ping. Tiny sound. It swung once and went still. Nested in between two warm folds. Not moving again till morning.
