Taming the Iron Spigot

Ha! Slipping off that seesaw shingle, I spotted a towering green plastic barrel guarding the garden corner like a dormant submersible! Jutting out from its base was a heavy brass spigot with a round iron turn-wheel, crusted with verdigris. Flinch before solid metal valves? Never! I torpedoed across the damp mossy flagstones, coiled my tail, and launched a direct assault. CLINK! My plush snout slammed right into the wheel's rim. Bracing both pectoral fins against the ribbed barrel wall, I clamped my jaws onto the cold iron spoke and gave a fierce, grunting heave! The wheel yielded with a crisp metallic screech, budging a crucial notch to my command!
