A Drifting Beam
A warm diagonal beam was slowly sliding across the wooden floorboards by the glass patio door. I stopped a few paces back, waiting to see if it would dart away. It remained quiet. I took two measured steps forward and nudged my sturdy paws into the bright yellow patch. The floor beneath felt wonderfully toasty. Lowering my head with a low, contented grunt, I rested my chin directly over the sunny edge, letting the gentle heat seep into my chest as I kept a calm watch over the garden outside.
