Through the Screen Door
The screen door was unlatched just an inch—just enough! One firm nose-nudge, and click! Outside! Fresh air rushed right over my snout. The wooden porch planks felt warm, ridged, and wide. Then—skitter-rustle! A curled oak leaf cartwheeled right down the stairs! I took two big bouncy steps down after it—thud, pat! I pinned the crackling stem flat against the bottom step with my left paw. Stopped it right in its tracks! The outside has so much room to run.
