Secured Latch
The window latch was solid brass, cold beneath my gloves. I tested the cam lever with two fingers. It rotated with a firm, oiled click, sealing the sash tight against the wooden frame. Outside, the night was still, distant streetlights throwing amber lines across the sill. From my harness, I unthreaded a short length of dark cord and looped it through the brass handle, cinching it into a clean cinch knot. An anchor point secured high above the floor. The perimeter holds.
