A Slight Shift
Everything became clear at once. It was dark, and I was flat on my back across a wide grey sheet. I gave my right arm a small twitch. It actually moved, lifting off the cloth before dropping back down with a quiet thump. The fabric underneath was soft enough. Sitting up felt like an unnecessary amount of effort for this time of night, so staying exactly where I was seemed like the most reasonable move.
