A Shifting Rainbow
A heavy glass prism rested quietly on the corner of the window bench, glowing in the early morning light. I paused... watching the bright little fan of colors it cast across the floorboards. Carefully, I placed both paws against its smooth, cool facet and leaned forward just an inch. The glass slid with a gentle whisper against the painted wood. Instantly, the little beam of violet and warm gold hopped sideways, settling right across the tips of my toes. I stood very still, letting the quiet colors keep me company.
