A Little Footwork

Catching sight of a bright yellow chalk hopscotch grid drawn across the concrete sidewalk, I couldn't just walk past without testing the lanes. Heh, simple games always have an honest appeal. I lined up a smooth, flat river pebble at the baseline, squared my boots, and gave it an easy, measured tap with my toe. Skitter... clack. It slid true across the grit, settling dead center inside square four. Planting my boots solidly into box one, I let out a warm chuckle as the rubber gripped the sunny pavement. A little playground practice makes for an honest bit of fun.
