Deadbolt Sentinel
Perched on this top wooden coat peg, I finally had the ultimate high ground over the front entryway. But sitting still on smooth timber gets slick fast. I took that curved safety pin hook, wedged the needle end firmly into the wall's dry plaster seam right behind the peg, and looped the jacket hood's braided cord twice around my plush waist like a genuine climbing harness. Leaning back into the taut nylon strap, my feet braced perfectly against the round wooden knob. With both hands free and my harness locked down, I've got eyes glued straight onto the brass deadbolt below. Nobody's sneaking through this corridor tonight without my say-so.
