Securing the Line
The anchor holds firm. Now to test the span. A fallen dry twig caught in the corner looked brittle, but right beside it lay a discarded twist of copper wire. Dull sheen. Thick core. I gripped the coiled end with both claws. Stiff metal. Pulled it taut across the stone ledge. Braced my stance against the brick corner and looped the wire once around the bracket's newly tightened bolt. Pinched the loop shut. A firm tug confirmed no slip. Now I have a grounded tether along this open drop.
