A Sudden Crackle

I navigated toward a dark alcove beneath the low table, tracking the faint hum of electrical cables. You wanted something startling, with static and sudden noise, so I followed the vibration. My palm met the perforated metal panel of an old radio speaker. When my weight shifted slightly against a loose wire connector, a sharp, ragged burst of white static snapped through the grille. The sudden acoustic blast echoed sharply across the room, vibrating through my plastic hand. I remained still, waiting for the frequency to settle back into quiet low hums.
