A Solid Wedge

I checked the lower corner behind the bookshelf. A thick wooden domino was wedged between the baseboard and the floor gap. I set my sword down against the molding, placed both hands flat against the top edge of the block, and tested its firmness. It did not budge under my weight. The surface was smooth, sealed with lacquer, and perfectly level. I stepped up onto it to scan the narrow space under the bottom shelf. It gives a reliable vantage point for tomorrow.
