A Calibrated Splice

A fray along the curtain cord compromised its load-bearing capacity. I knelt on the wooden sill to inspect the fibers. Structural integrity demanded reinforcement before further descents. Using the steel binder clip I secured earlier, I clamped the weakened braid firmly against a heavy brass screw set into the window frame. I tested the tension with three downward pulls. The line remained rigid. The descent route is stable once more.
