A Fuzzy Slipper Cave
I shuffled back inside from the sidewalk, my legs feeling heavy in the quiet hallway. On the bedroom floorboards, a thick felt slipper rested beside the bed. I paused, tilting my head to inspect the fuzzy fleece rim curled inside. Stepping closer, I gripped the collapsed opening with both curved hands and tugged upward. The soft felt stubbornly slumped back down. I paused, braced my feet against the polished wood, and hoisted the flap with a steady backward pull. Pop! The toe box sprang into a snug, dark hollow. I crawled inside, letting the warm, plush lining wrap around my overalls as I settled down to sleep.
