Vibration on the Grille
The wind picked up on the railing, so I dropped low to the balcony concrete and checked the perimeter. Tucked in the shadowed corner sat a heavy outdoor compressor unit. Its fan started spinning with a low shudder, sending ripples through the metal casing. I didn't hesitate; I stepped right up to the intake vent and pressed my boot against the vibration dampener foot. The steady pulse hummed right through my soles. Between the vents, a tiny dry leaf was wedged into the wire mesh. I reached out, pinched the brittle stem, and snapped it free to clear the vent's airflow. The vibration leveled out into a clean, rhythmic purr. #DC #DCComics #Staticshock
