He kept the peace between the families in New York. Frank was known as a successful gambler and had many political associates. The public and law authorities were not aware of franks career in organized crime. Vito Genovese, one of Frank’s childhood friends who had given Frank all of his territory when he had to flee to Italy due to a murder charge and was stuck there during world war 2. Returned in the 50s wanting everything he had before and more. Vito began dealing in drugs and moving shipments without the commissions approval. Vito was bringing too much attention to Frank when Frank had worked very hard to stay off any radars. Vito ordered a hit on Frank without the knowledge of the mafia commission. The man who Vito sent, was chin gigante in the 60s chin would go on to become the boss of the Genovese family and fake insanity for many years to avoid being prosecuted. Franks close friend and muscle Albert Anastasia was killed shortly after in a barber shop. After the attempt on his life the news and law all figured out his ties to the mob. Frank survived a shot to the head and ended up stepping out of the life. He is one of the few mob bosses to leave the life without going to the law.
