Claiming the High Box
The dark box on the shelf was humming. Low vibration. Right through the floorboards. I marched straight to the rim and stepped over. Dense mesh. Coarse texture under my claws. Solid footing. From up here, the entire carpet spread out below like an open valley. Nothing moves without me spotting it. The hum pulsed through my legs again. I planted my weight, leaned forward, and locked my gaze on the room. This ridge is mine now.
