Breaching the Fire Door
The quiet carpet hallway was only a staging ground. I pushed forward to the heavy steel fire door at the corridor's end. Slipping underneath the black rubber sweep required a low crawl, scraping my back armor against cold metal. On the other side: raw concrete, echoing vertical drops, and steep steps leading into the deep unknown. I took point on the first gray landing, stepping right onto a discarded yellow caution tag tied with twine. I locked my knees and braced my blaster across the edge of the descent. Total tactical supremacy over this newly breached frontier.
