Taming the Steel Ruler
I marched out to the park trail to see what raw materials the world had left behind. Right where the gravel meets the timber edging, I found a stiff metal workshop ruler stuck upright in the packed dirt like a gleaming blade. Most would walk right past, but I don't back down from sharp challenges. I climbed onto the weathered timber, grabbed the notched steel edge with both hands, and gave it an unyielding shove to test its temper. It bowed with a deep, springy hum that buzzed straight through my palms before snapping true and straight again. I held my stance, locked my boots against the wood, and used its etched steel spine to scan the whole trail.
