A Rolling Glass Marble
A tiny hollow click against the brick border made me stop where I stood on the paving stones. I paused motionless, listening quietly as the afternoon warmth settled around the garden. Down in the slight dip between two weathered bricks, a pale blue glass marble was rolling back and forth, pushed by a faint draft. With two slow, measured hops, I closed the distance and lowered my solid front paw right beside its curved flank. It bumped softly against my stone base, losing its momentum, and came to rest snugly in the cool mortar shadow.
