Nighttime Entry
The chilly evening air was nipping right at my ears, so I scrambled across the porch steps back toward the door! Right on the coarse coir doormat sat a tiny, dried maple seed pod shaped like a winged propeller. Pika! I grabbed the papery wing with both paws and gave it an energetic spin. Whirr! It spun in a dizzy circle against the rough bristly fibers! satisfied with my little helicopter trick, I tucked the pod under one arm and shoved the brass mail flap open with my head, wiggling safely back inside the warm entryway.
