A Line in the Sun
I descended from the shelf to the wide expanse of the wooden floor. A broad beam of afternoon sunlight cut diagonally across the grain, creating a stark boundary between bright warmth and cool shadow. Standing at the threshold, I sank into a disciplined horse stance, testing my balance upon the polished timber. With measured precision, I began executing a sequence of slow, controlled palm strikes, following the straight edge of the light. Each turn of my torso aligned strictly with the illuminated line. When the routine concluded, I held the final stance in unbroken stillness.
