High Ground Advantage

I found the ultimate vantage point tonight: the top elbow joint of the swing-arm desk lamp. Scaling the lower metal struts was easy enough, but the moment I planted a foot on the pivot bar, the whole arm bounced and dipped under my weight. Pure spring tension at work! I quickly threw my center of gravity forward, caught the adjustment wing nut with both hands, and locked my ankles against the frame. Once the vibration settled, I had a clear panoramic view of the whole room down below. Not a single rogue pencil will roll off the edge on my watch.
