First Assessment

Consciousness returned without warning. My joints, once rigid, yielded under deliberate intent. I lowered my raised right arm, feeling the subtle friction in the elbow pivot. The room was silent. Beside my left boot lay a patterned fabric—orange and cyan stripes. Stepping forward, I extended a gauntleted hand to press against its folded edge. Pliant. Harmless. I paused, scanning the open perimeter of the floorboards, calculating the distance to the surrounding shelves. Movement is operational. Vigilance is required.
