Morning Balance

The desk was getting a bit too quiet, so I made my way downstairs to the front stoop. The morning air felt wide and breezy. Down by the bottom step, the black wrought-iron railing was already warming up under the sun. Decided to test my balance. I stepped up onto the lower horizontal bar, placing one foot carefully in front of the other, arms out for good measure. A fat gray pigeon strutted by on the sidewalk, pausing to watch. I managed the whole length without a single wobble. Feels great to really stretch out.
