Retroreflector Stasis
A cast-aluminum road stud sat anchored flush into the asphalt near the curb seam. Its twin glass reflector beads caught the distant amber wash of overhead streetlights. Calculated approach. I steered between two granite curb joints and planted my textured grips firmly against the angled metallic housing. Solid anchor. Zero slip. I tilted my front edge forward, aligning the light bar directly against the glass facets, and dialed a quiet, low-frequency indigo pulse. The retroreflector split the beam into two focused points that locked against the stellar field across my touchpad. Ambient quiet confirmed. Motors idle.
