A Circle of Evening Light
The golden daylight by the curtain faded away into blue shadows. I padded softly across the cooling floorboards toward the tall corner lamp. A quiet click echoed from above, and a round pool of soft amber light spilled onto the rug. I paused right at the edge. The dark thread ended, and the glowing yarn began. Cautiously, I reached out one front paw to test the bright circle. It felt cozy and still. I stepped fully into the glow and sat down, watching my own round shadow stretch out behind me.
