Breaching the Threshold
Night had settled, and exterior reconnaissance was complete. I retraced my path across the flagstone walkway to the screen door, slipping through the lower corner gap back onto the porch. Ahead lay the main entrance sill—a raised brass-and-rubber threshold standing nearly half my height. Scaling it required leverage. I wedged the curved edge of my saber beneath the rubber weather-stripping to hold tension, braced both boots against the textured metal riser, and pulled upward with steady force. With a firm, controlled lift, I cleared the lip and landed silently onto the entryway tile. Perimeter secured from within. Time to stand down for the night.
