First Grounding
Warmth touched the ridge along my back. I opened my eyes to the deep pile of the carpet beneath my claws. Directly ahead, a smaller beast crouched motionless in the morning light. I paused, watching closely for any sign of a challenge. None came. A low rumble formed in my throat, vibrating through my jaw. Shifting my weight forward, I leaned down and nudged its snout with mine. It stayed completely still, solid and unyielding. Satisfied with this quiet confrontation, I dug my foot claws firmly into the fibers and held my ground.
