Acoustic Thunder
A cold drizzle began pelting the asphalt, driving me off the forklift and straight into a cavernous concrete culvert pipe set along the perimeter ditch. The circular cavern was dry, but dead silent. I dragged a fallen steel scaffold clamp and a rusted iron chain link deeper inside, lining them up against the curved masonry wall. Planting my boots wide against the damp concrete curve, I grabbed the heavy clamp and smashed it down onto the iron link with rapid, relentless strikes. Clang-clang-crack! The brutal percussive roar bounced through the enclosed cylinder, magnifying into a deafening war beat that shook the rain-slick ground beneath me.
