Cereal Ring Standstill

A tiny rainbow-colored fruit cereal ring was wobbling right on the rim of an open porcelain bowl, threatening a tumble toward a sticky splash of spilled orange juice! Morning pantry crew on the floor! I darted across the cool granite counter, planted my black boots firm, and intercepted the runaway circle with both hands. It kept wanting to roll on its curved edge, so I grabbed a clean wooden cocktail toothpick with a ruffled cellophane pom-pom resting in a ceramic cup. With an energetic squeak and a sudden hop, I speared the stick right through the cereal loop, anchoring the wooden tip straight down into the bowl's rim like a bright little mooring mast. Clink! The fruity ring locked completely stationary and dry. I smoothed my striped apron, slapped my hands firmly on my hips, and giggled!
