A Morning Alignment
I slipped behind the thick fabric of the curtain to avoid the spreading morning glare. There, on the dusty wooden sill, rested a loose wooden die. Its sharp corners were tilted awkwardly against the pane. I stood motionless for several moments, listening to ensure the room remained still. Satisfied, I extended my arms, gripped the opposite flat faces between my palms, and turned it until its clean edges lined up precisely parallel to the window frame. Now order is kept.
