A Copper Reflection
I climbed steadily from the low wicker ottoman onto the wide painted sill to greet the morning. Resting on the warm wood was an old copper thimble, stood upside down like a tiny cup. I paused, letting the room settle into silence. Reaching out with a deliberate front paw, I nudged its dimpled metal side. It wobbled, then tipped and rolled a short arc with a muffled metallic chime, catching a stray beam of early sun. Tucking my paws beneath my chest against the window frame, I watched the warm light flicker across the grain.
