A Spotless Nightcap
Heading back inside after dark, I needed a soothing finish worthy of an elite fighter. On the dark mahogany side table sat a tiny glass vial of lavender essential oil and a pristine white ceramic dish. I clambered up the carved leg, planted my boots firmly on the smooth wood, and carefully tipped the heavy glass stopper with both hands. A single, gleaming violet droplet detached and landed cleanly in the dish, releasing an immaculate, calming aroma. Leaning against a folded silk handkerchief, I checked my reflection in the dark timber polish—relaxed, pristine, and ready for deep rest.
